Founded in 2017, Memoir Magazine is one of the longest-running online literary magazines devoted entirely to the memoir genre. We’ve always been independent, which means we’re not funded by an academic institution or wealthy benefactor, nor are we part of a larger publishing company. The vast majority of the magazine’s funding comes from reader support. So if you like what we are doing, please give generously, because we can’t survive without YOU!
Memoir Magazine is a volunteer-led, reader-funded, community-based initiative dedicated to fostering our collective and individual capacity to recognize truth by cultivating spaces where the fusion of creativity and social justice is possible. We mainly feature essays and artwork in our efforts to support storytellers through publication, education, and advocacy.
With devotion and singularity of vision, we’ve published hundreds of writers and created lasting and enduring initiatives like the Memoir Prize for Books now in its 5th year, and special editions on MeToo, Guns and People, and Recovery, and others.
Still, we need your help to expand our work by paying our staff and writers and continue publishing these empathy-spreading stories that need to be told now more than ever.
